Exploring the heart of a dense, untamed jungle, the viewer encounters the Gates of Edar, two massive, moss-covered rock pillars rising from calm, reflective waters. These ancient ruins, framed by towering tropical trees, evoke a sense of forgotten grandeur. A solitary sailboat threads its way between the monolithic stones, emphasizing the scale of the pillars and inviting the imagination to ponder what secrets lie beyond

Process Breakdown
1. Blockout in Blender
I started by creating a rough textured blockout of the scene in Blender, focusing on the scale and composition of the massive rock pillars, and the water. At this stage, it was all about establishing the mood, perspective, and major shapes, without worrying about details.
2. Composition & Camera
Once the blockout was in place, I experimented with camera angles and composition to ensure the sailboat weaving between the pillars would feel dramatic and cinematic. I adjusted the height, distance, and framing to create a sense of scale and depth.
3. Photoshop & Photobashing
After finalizing the composition, I brought the render into Photoshop. Using extensive photobashing techniques, I added textures, moss, foliage, and water reflections. This step helped enhance realism, combining photographic elements with hand-painted details.
4. Lighting & Atmosphere
I refined the lighting to create contrast between the shaded jungle and the illuminated water and pillars. Subtle atmospheric effects, like mist and soft light filtering through the trees, were added to heighten depth and mood.
5. Final Touches
Finally, I added small details like ripples in the water, sailboat highlights, and subtle color grading to unify the scene and make it feel alive.
Tools Used:
- Blender: Rough blockout, perspective, and scale
- Photoshop: Photobashing, painting, compositing
- Custom textures & brushes: For moss, rocks, and foliage
